ABOUT US
ARK LEARNING CENTER
is a General Partnership and a family company, owned and operated by Cheryl Turner and Heidi Boatner. Cheryl Turner is Director.
Combined teaching experience at The ARK represents well over half a century of expertise. Heidi Boatner, Cheryl Turner's daughter grew up in a home that her mom opened to children, so it just seemed like the natural thing to do when she chose a vocation.
Heidi and her husband Justin, who also spends most of his days at the ARK fulfilling the duties of School Van Driver, Maintenance, Substitute Teacher and whatever else needs to be done, have two children of their own: Zaden and Rylan.
Cheryl Turner had already done babysitting before she met her Husband, Rob, who you might occasionally see at The ARK, but he spends most of his time as Web Administrator, making sure everything is up-to-date here, and on our Facebook page. In addition, The ARK offers another form of communication: ARK-Mail. Be sure to sign up at the front desk.
HOURS:
ARK LEARNING CENTER operates between the hours of 6:00AM and 6:30PM, Monday through Friday, from birth to 12 years.
MEALS AND SNACKS:
All meals, breakfast, lunch and supper; as well as morning and afternoon snacks are provided, and included in tuition. The ARK participates in the Texas USDA Nutrition Program, and The ARK is the ONLY childcare facility in the area awarded direct management (not sponsored) participation.
CURRICULUM:
The most important guidelines for teacher/student interaction are dictated by interaction. Accordingly, we believe that children are capable of learning from the time they are born, and we want to assist them in every way possible. Infants are introduced to baby-signing, as it has been proven an infant can learn signs for basic needs, such as "I feel pain", "I am hungry", "More" and others. ARK Learning Center's own curriculum introduces 1 and 2-year-olds to communication skills, basic colors and shapes, and small motor skills, developed by finger-painting and ball rolling.
By 2 years of age, the children really take off and demonstrate what the young mind can do, utilizing the Frog Street curriculum. This curriculum is used from 3 years through the age of 4 and 5, before they go off to Kindergarten. Several foreign languages are introduced at age 4, and if an ARK student has had at least 2 years of ARK curriculum before they enter Kindergarten, they will have been introduced to knowledge and skill sets placing them well beyond Kindergarten. Ongoing teacher training keeps staff aware of the best possible teaching methods.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION:
The ARK vans transport public school students to and from The ARK every day, and we drop off and pick up at all Azle schools, as well as Reno. School transportation is included in before and after school care fees.
THE BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM teachers provide homework help immediately after afternoon snack.
SUMMER PROGRAM:
Summer Focus Weeks, an ARK original, have often been imitated, but never duplicated. For students K-6, it offers a different learning experience each day, with a field trip. Younger students participate in the day’s project.

Is still a great added indicator of what to expect before you visit a prospective center. A poor record or a small number of inspections is a warning sign. We are proud of our record!
